Another Free Agent Pitcher off the Market

Free agent right-hander John Garland has signed a 1 year contract with the Arizona Diamondbacks. The contract is valued between 6-8 million dollars with both a player and a club option for 2010.

It was said a lot this off-season that the Mets were interested in acquiring Garland but nothing ever materialized. The Mets still have a rotation spot open and there are 16 days left until pitchers and catchers report to Florida.

Word going around is that talks have somewhat stalled between Oliver Perez and The Mets. Scott Boras tried to conjure up the famous mystery team(s) that are interested in Oliver but it's believed that the Mets are the only real players for Perez' services.

Whatever the Mets are going to do it needs to get done now! I don't think the Mets want to go into Spring Training with a hole in the rotation and I know Met fans don't want that either.
