Edgardo Alfonzo making a comeback?

Reports are that former New York Mets infielder Edgardo Alfonzo has been impressing scouts with his performance in the Venezuelan Winter League. Alfonzo has lost some weight and there are clubs interested in him. Fonzie was at Shea last year for the last game and has worked with them in the minors in the past.

I was a fan of Fonzie's and I'm happy for him that he's giving his career another shot. I wouldn't mind it if the Mets invite him to Spring Training and perhaps give him a minor league contract if he impresses the coaches. Fonzie could work his way up in the organization and perhaps be a mid season callup.

In 2006 Jose Valentin was considered down and out but he had a good season and last year Fernando Tatis had a good comeback until getting hurt, perhaps 3rd times the charm for a Met player making a comeback?

It looks like the signing of Cora earlier this week and renewed interest in Alfonzo could mean that Castillo's days as a Met are numbered and it would not have cost the Mets that much more money.
