The Mets top prospect Fernando Martinez has been cut by the Leones del Caracas of the Venezuelan Winter League. The president of the team says "Martinez is a great player, but unfortunately he couldn’t hit as we hoped."
I don't know what to make of this. F-Mart has been deemed untouchable by the Mets the last few years and now has been cut from a winter league. There were many offers for different players over the years for Martinez but we turned the trades down thinking he was the future of the franchise. He has been injured the last 2 years and now this happens. I hope F-Mart will not be another disappointment like Lastings Milledge was.
